Emotiva Updates Stereo Amp to 300 Watts/Channel

July 31, 2013
So how do you improve an already popular 250 watt/channel stereo amp? You add more power, new circuitry and a make it a little prettier.

Emotiva’s XPA-2 stereo amplifier boasts 50 more watts per channel (at 8 ohms, 0.07% THD) over the original XPA-1,or 500 per channel at 4 ohms. It can also be used as a monoblock amp delivering 1,000 watts/channel at 8 ohms.
A new circuit topology is said to deliver a more “impressively silent” noise floor as well.

Other audio tech features include a fully discrete, dual differential, high current, short signal path Class A/B topology and a 1,200VA toroidal transformer with 45,000uF of storage.

The XPA-2 also received some new aesthetic touches like solid machined gold-plated RCA jacks, high-quality metal toggle switches for input selection, and cleaner aesthetic design, complete with a new high-strength chassis for added durability. Emotiva president Dan Laufman says it’s overall “a more refined” appearance.

The XPA-2 is available directly from Emotiva.com for $899.
